Available Resources @ Schapiro

Please Note:

  1. Resources such as props and costumes are available from Production Resources, housed in Nash. The PM can provide some scenic, lighting, and sound resources, only through prior approval. These resources must be properly installed and removed by the labor resources procured by the production team.
  2. At a project’s conclusion, all props, costumes, etc., used must be returned to their proper storage space or properly disposed of. This does not mean leaving used scenic pieces in hallways or lobby of Schapiro or in front of the building. Note: Schapiro does not have dumpsters. Any trash too big for the provided trash bins must be carried to a campus dumpster. This can be coordinated with the PM.

Materials for the Arts (MFTA) is a city-run warehouse with a wide variety of recycled supplies, all available for free. See their webpage: mfta.org for information on this great resource. Materials received from MFTA belong to the Theatre Program, so students must make arrangements with Production Resources when it is time to return materials from the production.

To make an appointment, contact the Assistant Production Manager well in advance of when you need to visit the space. Be sure to include the following:

  • The names of all people going (no more than three (3) people per appointment)
  • The main contact’s address, email, and phone number
  • Preferred date(s) for appointment (Tuesdays and Thursdays only).

Note: The Theatre Program can only make one appointment at a time. Designers for thesis productions also use this resource and receive priority. MFTA does not allow the Theatre Program to have more than one scheduled appointment at a time, so we cannot schedule the next until the current appointment is completed. While frustrating at times, students agree it is often worth the wait.

If a production uses any materials from MFTA, their logo must be included in the program. See the PM/APM for the logo.

The Program has worked to build a solid collection of furniture for use by presentations in Schapiro. We ask that you use this stock before having things transported from Nash. Unlike Production Resources, you have priority in the use of this stock. Make arrangements with the PM for your team to see the items available. Stay in communication with other shows using either the Theatre or the Studio at the same time to ensure the same items are not needed.

Music stands, cameras, tripods, projectors, clip lights, projector mounts, and various cables are available to be reserved through the PM.

Please find all PR info HERE.

To use furniture and props from Production Resources, email [email protected] to schedule an appointment to review their inventory and check out materials. Walk-in appointments are never permitted.

It is imperative that students do not wait until the last minute to contact Production Resources – average response time is two (2) days. All email correspondence to Production Resources must cc: the PM.

Space reservations for second year production rehearsals are prioritized no earlier than five (5) weeks prior to opening. Students must still go through the Room Reservation Process, overseen by the Program Assistant. The only exception is for auditions. Space for auditions will be prioritized even if scheduled earlier than five weeks before opening, though still must be scheduled through the Room Reservation Process.
