Graduation Certification

MA Students apply for graduation before the end of the fall thesis term in order to receive the MA degree, which is awarded in February.  Students graduate from the MA Film & Media Studies program upon completion of their thesis paper and all academic requirements.  Although students may continue to work on the paper after the fall thesis term, their student status expires at the end of the fall term, so they should plan accordingly with respect to housing, health insurance and other matters associated with student status.  Thesis readers will review thesis papers at the end of the fall term, and the MA degree is conferred in February.

To receive the degree, students in all MA programs are required to hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00, and to complete all coursework and receive letter grades replacing all marks of Incomplete (IN) or Credit Pending (CP), whether or not the course is required for the degree.

Deadlines to apply for graduation may be found on the Registrar’s web page.

Withholding of Diplomas, Certificates, and Transcripts

It is the policy of the University to withhold diplomas, certificates, and transcripts until all financial obligations have been met. Candidates for graduation are urged to pay their bills in full at least one month before graduation. In the event that a diploma, certificate, or transcript is withheld because of an unpaid bill, a student may be required to use a certified check, money order, or cash to release any of the aforementioned documents.
