Apartment X

GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION

Apt. X is available for use by First and Second Year exercises, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. A maximum of (2) 4 hour blocks per week is allowed per student.

Located in the Annex building of 560 Riverside Drive between 125th Street and Tiemann Place Apartment X is a semi-furnished very small (300 sq. ft.) basement apartment. It is available for use for exercises only for CU Film students from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm only.  560 Riverside drive is a graduate housing apartment building. To give some context for Apartment X: This is a free space (doesn’t cost the Film program any money) that was offered to the Film program in 2011, procured with full knowledge that it wasn’t ideal for all kinds of filming, but for certain kinds of exercises it could be useful.  The limited hours are due to the fact that it is situated in a residential apartment building in between rent-paying neighbors who can’t be disturbed by film shooting outside of these hours. We hope you will utilize it if it is helpful.

Apartment X can be reserved with the Webcheckout booking software.

ACCESS

Access can only be obtained by seeing the Door Attendant in the main lobby of the building. After presenting the approval form and showing your CU ID, the door attendant will give the Responsible Student the key for the apartment. The Responsible Student will sign the key out in the log book kept with the door attendant and sign it back when it is returned. The key must be returned by 5 PM each day. Please make sure the apartment door is securely locked whenever leaving. The front door to the apartment should never be left open.

SETTING

This is a residential building and those using this space must keep this in mind. Loud noises or music, strong odors, storing items in the public hallway, and anything else that might be disruptive in a residential setting is not permitted. Also, it is possible that apartment renovation work in nearby apartments will be in progress during a film shoot. This work cannot be postponed because of the shoot.

PROHIBITIONS

Filming in public spaces is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to sidewalks, entryways, lobbies, foyers, hallways, elevators, stairways, fire escapes, roofs, laundry rooms, storage rooms, the garage, and all plaza areas. No equipment, cast/crew members, props or craft service can be stored in the hallway outside the apartment at any time. The apartment door must be closed at all times. There is no shooting into the public hallway at all, including from an inside an open apartment door. Firearms, explosives, use of flammable or noxious materials, loud noises, significant use of electric power, blockage of public spaces, overcrowding of apartment or public areas, or anything else that may be a hazard, a disturbance or an inconvenience to tenants or building staff will immediately revoke student’s permission and violation will be reported to the Film Program Studio Monitor/Equipment Room Manager.
