Install Media Composer and the appropriate plugins.  Installers can be found by clicking on the link below (using UNI/Password)

Make sure you have a compatible computer and operating system.

 

The DMC will be running macOS 15.7 with Media Composer 2025.12

  • Media Composer 2025.12 also works on
     
    • 26.x Tahoe
    • 15.x - 15.7 Sequoia
    • 14.x - 14.8.x Sonoma
    • 13.x - 13.7.x Ventura
    • * Monterey, Big Sur, Catalina, and Mojave no longer supported

Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise: 64-bit 22H2 or later

*Win 10 no longer qualified

Activating Media Composer Ultimate 

Before you begin, please note that this license requires you to be connected to Columbia’s network.
 

If you are not on Columbia's network please follow these instructions:
 

Connect to CUIT VPN (Required)

You must be on the Columbia network for the license to activate.
    1.    Visit: https://www.cuit.columbia.edu/remote-access-services
    2.    Follow the instructions to install and connect to the CUIT VPN
    3.    Once connected, confirm you have an active VPN session

Open Avid Link Preferences
    1.    Click the Avid Link icon (triangle / “Triforce”) in your menu bar
    2.    Select Preferences

 

Enter the License Server Address http://flexnet.art.columbia.edu in the Primary License Server Field.

 

Click on the Products Tab and in the drop down menu click  ‘License’.

Then click on License Server to the right of Online and Offline and tick the box ‘Use License Server’ and then Click Continue.

Avid Media Composer will now be licensed and ready to launch.

 

 

 

Troubleshooting Tips
    •    If activation fails, double-check VPN is connected
    •    Try restarting Avid Link after connecting to VPN
    •    Avoid launching Media Composer before connecting to VPN
