Changeovers and Strike - New Plays Festival

Timing of Changeovers

We have 90 minutes to load-in each set from a blank stage on the first day of your production week. The turnover from one show to the other in rep cannot be more than 30 minutes. The design of the show, especially the scenic design, will need to reflect this ability.

Evening Costume/Props/Sound Turnovers
  • Stage Managers
  • Playwright
  • Stagehand/Run Crew

The above individuals will facilitate the props/costumes changeover after the completion of each of their performances or technical rehearsals. These are notated as ‘Costume/Props/Sound Changeovers” or “C/P/S Changeovers” on the calendar.

Afternoon Scenic/Lighting Turnovers
  • Stage Managers (if not in class)
  • Playwright
  • Stagehand/Run Crew (if not in class)
  • 1 Staff Member

The above individuals will facilitate the scenic/lighting changeover. These are notated as ‘Scenic/Lighting Changeovers” on the calendar.

At the completion of the last show, the following should take place during strike:

  • All personal items must be removed from the venue directly after the final performance.
  • At Strike the production is responsible for:
    • Gathering all props and organizing them for pickup on Monday.
    • Organizing all costumes and storing them properly for pickup on Monday.
    • Cleaning all backstage areas.
    • Cleaning all dressing rooms.
  • Directors, actors, & designers are responsible for the transportation of their personal items.
  • Items built, bought, and brought by Columbia will be struck by Columbia Production Management.
  • Items acquired from Materials for the Arts on behalf of Columbia belong to Columbia.
