Renting / Borrowing Items from Outside Sources - Acting Thesis
Renting equipment that Columbia does not have in stock may be approved on a case-by-case basis. For some vendors, Columbia has a pre-existing relationship and can approve contracts relatively quickly. For new rental agreements, some may need to go through a red-line process with Columbia's Purchasing Office. This process can take several weeks to a couple months to finalize. All rentals must be contracted directly with Columbia. Please inform Production Management as soon as possible if a rental item is potentially part of the needs of a show, so that this process can be started as soon as possible.
For items that are borrowed or loaned to a show, a liability waiver must be submitted that indemnifies Columbia SOA and Lenfest Center for the Arts from any liability for those items.
In certain cases, especially with Lighting or Sound Equipment, or very large items (like pianos), just because an item is available as a rental or loan does not necessarily mean that the space or production staff has the capability to install the item. Please confirm with the Production Staff that anything the show is looking to rent or borrow will function in the space before making any arrangements.
Columbia cannot repair or maintain rented or borrowed equipment in the event that it does not function as intended.
